About Maison Berthier

MAISON BERTHIER IS A MULTIDISCIPLINARY GRAPHIC DESIGN AND ART DIRECTION STUDIO FOUNDED BY FRENCH DESIGNER LAURA BERTHIER.

The studio works across brand identity, web design, packaging, print, illustration and set design, with a strong focus on visual storytelling and creative direction.

Projects span Art & Culture, Hospitality & Lifestyle, Beauty, and Luxury brands, collaborating with small businesses, cultural and real estate initiatives, as well as creative companies across Europe.

HOW WE WORK

  • Maison Berthier approaches each project with a transversal, A-to-Z vision, often supporting brands from their first ideas to their final digital and physical forms.

The work balances creative freedom with coherent, well-structured deliverables, allowing brands to express strong identities while remaining adaptable and functional—whether through brand systems, web interfaces, packaging, or printed matter.

Special attention is given to materials, colours, typography, and a little je ne sais quoi.

  • As an independent studio, Maison Berthier offers a close, flexible, and highly personalised way of working.
Each project is approached with care, curiosity, and attention to detail, adapting to the specific needs and ambitions of every client.

    Clients benefit from:

    • Direct collaboration with the designer behind the studio

    • Agility and flexibility allowing projects to evolve naturally

    • Tailored solutions rather than one-size-fits-all systems

When a project calls for expertise beyond the studio’s scope, Maison Berthier collaborates with a trusted network of developers, photographers, printers, copywriters, artisans, and other specialists, ensuring the best of the best results.

  • Although based in Amsterdam, Maison Berthier remains deeply connected to its French roots and works fluently in English and French. Projects are primarily handled remotely, making collaboration easy across Europe and any creative hub. This international yet human-scale approach is Maison Berthier’s signature.

Meet Laura — the face and hands behind Maison Berthier

Hi! I’m Laura Berthier — French, 35, design aficionado and colourful spirit. I’ve proudly built a life around creativity, where doing what I love and loving what I do naturally come together.

  • Post Covid, Laura Berthier joined By Charlot as Head of Design, guiding the brand’s creative direction alongside her studio work for nearly 3 years. She supported small and emerging brands in bringing their visual identities to life, such as Alyscamps Cosmetics. She also deepened her global design perspective with Wonderwoods, a large-scale architectural project in Utrecht (NL) designed by Stefano Boeri and MVSH.

  • Prior to founding Maison Berthier, Laura collaborated with Paris-based agencies on high-end brand experiences, notably the Invictus by Paco Rabanne international press launch. She later relocated to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she continued to develop her transversal approach to branding, spanning digital and physical projects.

  • Laura Berthieholds a High-Level Diploma in Visual Communication from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré (Paris) and graduated in 2012 with a Master’s degree in Global Design and Graphic Design from École de Condé (Paris).

Packaging Design
€0.00

A creative packaging solution to translate your brand identity* into physical form.

What’s included

Projects may involve primary and/or secondary packaging:

  • Primary packaging refers to the container itself (cream flacons, candle jars, bottles, etc.)

The process

  • Visual research exploring styles, references, shapes, and materials through mood boards and sketches

  • Graphic layout design and packaging mock-ups

  • Coordination and exchanges with printers and suppliers

Timelines & variations

Timelines vary depending on the number of packaging elements involved and whether structural research or die-line development is required.

Once the main packaging concept is defined, variations (formats, sizes, flavours, etc.) can be developed at a preferential rate, as the initial concept serves as the cornerstone of the project.

*This service is designed for brands that already have a visual identity in place (logo, typography, colour palette, graphic assets). If needed, Maison Berthier can also support the creation of your brand identity beforehand and help define its visual foundations.

Smart Questions

  • When others simply say “it depends” (and that’s often true), this is what Maison Berthier came up with:

    • A hybrid approach, combining predefined packages, daily fees, and fully custom solutions. A fair and transparent pricing model based on years of experience, helping keep things clear and avoiding pricing uncertainty on both sides.

    • In concrete terms, design costs are generally based on time spent (€80/hour or €600/day), but not exclusively. Some projects require more time than their immediate deliverables suggest, while others achieve strong impact within a shorter timeframe. That’s when packages come in handy.

    • To simplify things, Maison Berthier created a design packages system covering the most common scenarios (e.g. Brand Identity Starter Pack or Shopify Store Design). Check them out here.
Larger or more complex projects are quoted individually, based on scope, level of exploration, number of applications, and overall complexity.

Final pricing is always confirmed after an initial discussion about your needs.

A 50% deposit is required upon order confirmation.

  • The timeline varies according to scope, complexity and decision-making, but a Tailored Brand Identity project typically range from 3 weeks to 3 months from kick‑off to final delivery.

Smaller services like the Starter Pack are designed for projects that need to move quickly: 2 dedicated days with one feedback round.

  • Maison Berthier is a good fit for small to mid-sized brands, founders, creative agencies, and cultural or hospitality projects at various stages of their development.

Typical collaborators come with a clear ambition and are looking for a senior specialist able to think globally while remaining attentive to detail.

Maison Berthier is particularly well suited to environments where quality, nuance, and intention matter.

If you recognise yourself — Maison Berthier is likely the right partner.

  • Yes. Laura Berthier, the face and hands behind Maison Berthier, can be booked on a daily basis (Book the Designer) — providing creative agencies with senior design expertise without a long-term commitment.

For ongoing or periodic collaborations, we can discuss your needs and logistics to structure the most suitable design package — whether through a monthly fee or dedicated recurring days.

  • At the end of a project, you will receive final, ready-to-use files adapted to the agreed applications (web, print, packaging, etc.), typically including formats such as SVG, PDF, JPG, or PNG, as well as access to Figma source files for digital projects.

These files come with usage rights allowing you to use the work freely across the intended and approved media.

Depending on the nature of the mission, deliverables may also include supporting documents or presentations prepared by Maison Berthier — such as brand guidelines — to help you apply the work consistently.

After delivery, Maison Berthier is always happy to support the evolution of your brand when needed.

  • Every project starts with a conversation. A clear brief always helps move faster but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

If you already have a solid idea in mind, you can directly select one of our predefined Design Package. Maison Berthier will then reach out to schedule a kick-off meeting.

During this first exchange, we will align on the essentials, and you will be asked to share:

    • Your brand story and positioning

    • Your audience and market context

    • Any existing logos, colour palettes, fonts, or visual references

    • Your goals and timeline expectations

If things are still taking shape, no stress. Maison Berthier is happy to get involved early and help refine your ideas.

If you’re unsure where to start, simply submit your project and Laura will guide you through the next steps.
